We get it – a lot of people aren’t big fans of the Live Nation world and all that. Having said that, HOB Nola brings a lot of great acts to the city and it’s an excellent venue (capacity 1,000) to see a show.

This HOB opened in 1994 and was the second location for the chain (following Cambridge, Mass.). They converted a 19th-century shoe and boot factory into an excellent music venue. And it includes some awesome and funky art – described as outsider and American folk art.

Food: Full kitchen.

Mississippi Mud

The founder (Isaac Tigrett) hit a metal box filled with actual mud from the Mississippi River Delta in a metal box. He wanted to ensure that every artist that played the venue would experience the roots of Southern blues music and get some of that New Orleans “mojo.”
