Johnny Mastro plays the best blues harp in New Orleans! Hearing this sound during the daylight hours was a new thing, but hearing it at BMC was pretty cool (great sound in this joint). He was playing here with Sean (Shawn? Shaun?) Timothy, I believe. They took turns singing songs which made for a fun couple of happy hours. No matter who Johnny's playing with, the Mama's Boys or other iterations, you know it's going to be powerful, heavy, and bluesy. He really cut his teeth playing for the legendary Laura May "Mama" Gross in California leading to OC Weekly dropping the classic line of, "Mama's Boys? They play like sons of Mike Tyson!" He's been plying his trade in Nola since 2014 so get out there and see him!
